Dodoma, 7-8 May 2018
The first national workshop brought together 20 local stakeholders to identify agricultural land use decisions that would benefit from valuation of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Participants tabled four study options including smallholder farming, the Rufiji basin, the Iringa sub-basin, and the Kilombero sub-basin, and considered a number of elements such as: geographical scope; environmental issues; scenarios and related ecosystem services; policy opportunities; and data sources. Participants also established the foundations for project governance, including a Steering Committee and technical committee.
